Cleveland Watkiss - vocal improvisation 'The Big Sing' Saturday 6th February Cleveland took a 20 strong class of mixed ages and singing experience through a 2 hour workshop. After a warm-up session, inhibitions dispelled, each person got the chance to improvise around a chosen word or phrase. Amazing results, mostly "I didn't realise I could do that!"

Mike Hall and Dan Whieldon - 'Improvisation for horn players' Saturday 6th February Two 21/2 hour sessions were fully subscibed. Mixed abilities and experiences but a common wish to develop improvisational skills. With Dan providing the piano accompaniment and Mike the tenor sax tuition, the two of them passed on tips and lessons to the eager classes.

Alan Barnes - 'Masterclass' Sunday 7th February To give the advanced students a grasp of the experience of sight-reading, Alan produced charts for the 4 rhythm section and 9 horn players 'on the spot'. The two session was watched by a keen audience and all participants gave the session top marks for enjoyment and learning. By the end of the session the group produced some great music.
