"Exploring Ellington" for horn players, led by Josh Kemp with Tim Lapthorn, Mick Hutton and Matt Skelton
Saxophonist Josh Kemp, with the expert support of this auspicious rhythm section, will provide arrangements of some classic Duke Ellington tunes. The workshop is aimed at horn players (any instrument) seeking expert advice and guidance from top professionals on the interpretation and expression of the music of one of the most prolific and creative tunesmiths in the jazz idiom. Participants need to have reached a reasonable standard of reading proficiency. Free to Weekender and Saturday Day Ticket holders, there is a nominal charge of £10 to those coming exclusively for the workshop. Conservatory Bar, Saturday 2.30pm-4.30pm

You’ve heard the gig - now get inside the music. For those who wish to dig a little deeper into the creative process of building up an album of work, Josh, Tim, Mick and Matt will try and lift the lid on how it all comes together and how improvisation is melded with written arrangements. Free to anyone who attended the quartet’s gig Sunday morning. Otherwise admission £10. Windsor Suite, Sunday 4pm-5pm
