Gabrielle Ducomble Quartet featuring Nicolas Meier
Sunday 21st October 2012, 8 p.m.

CHANGE OF PROGRAMME
Robert Castelli is unable to make the gig as advertised in our brochure and we are delighted that originally featured guitarist Nicolas Meier was able to take the opportunity to bring rising star vocalist Gabrielle Ducomble who is rapidly putting her sophisticated Gallic stamp on the London jazz scene.
Born in Belgium, Gabrielle became a household name in France when in 2003 she reached the final of French "Pop Idol" and went on to record a single and album with BMG France that went double gold.
Gabrielle had the privilege to work with the pop star Lara Fabian on her international tour “Un Regard Neuf”. Soon after this, she moved to London to study and graduated with a postgraduate qualification in jazz from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Artistically at home in styles ranging from contemporary jazz to Latin and French popular song, Gabrielle uses her considerable vocal technique to explore the musical boundaries of each song, producing a free, fresh sound while remaining true to the emotional core.
Her debut jazz album “J’ai Deux Amours” was released on MGP Records in August 2011. It features Gabrielle’s own arrangements of American and French jazz standards, with the collaboration some of Europe’s finest musicians, including Chris Garrick and Nicolas Meier.
