Look forward to a couple of hours of top class big band music from Phil Shotton’s great outfit featuring American (Rhode Island) sax star Greg Abate whose big band career included lead alto in The Ray Charles Orchestra and tenor in the Dick Johnson-Artie Shaw Band. Greg is providing most of the charts for this gig. He has also just recorded an album with the legendary Phil Woods.

Benn Clatworthy Quartet
Followed by a session with a hugely talented quartet led by world class tenor saxophonist Benn Clatworthy. Mostly resident in Los Angeles, this London born star has a unique and immediately recognisable tone and style sometimes alluded to as reminiscent of Sonny Rollins with an essence of John Coltrane.
