Steve Waterman and Mike Hall have been musical colleagues ever since their first meeting on the recording for a BBC R3 broadcast with the Michael Garrick Big Band in 1985. While both of them pursue their own contemporary playing, writing and education projects, they agree that the music from the late 50’s and early 60’s still has an unshakable hold on them and that, from time to time, it is fun to go back to the roots and celebrate the period that was so influential in jazz history. So, in the venerable format of jazz quintet, you will hear the sounds of Clifford Brown, Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Art Blakey and Miles given a new lease of life.
