Brandon, Enzo and Ross are familiar faces at SMJ, each having established a peerless reputation for hard driving swing in other combos. Bring in Quentin Collins, one of Europe’s leading jazz trumpet soloists in the Freddie Hubbard style, a regular with Kyle Eastwood’s band, prominently featured at the 2012 Marciac Jazz Festival and co-leader of this group which completed a 30+ gig UK/European tour culminating in a fantastic set at The Scarborough Jazz Festival last September (recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio 3 Jazz Line Up.) The quartet creates highly polished free swinging arrangements of well crafted original tunes and has developed a ‘sixth sense’ mutual understanding of each others’ improvisational explorations.
