The John Ellis Trio

This extremely talented composer, arranger, band leader, pianist and vocalist is pictured here in a CD cover photo-op in the River Irk, close to his childhood home, a source of inspiration for some of his songs. In a varied career John has collaborated with pop stars   including Tom Jones and John Squire of Stone Roses, led his own big band, written scores for theatre and film productions and (of late) concentrated on solo vocal performance with his own trio. He also has his own Limefield recording studio utilised by many northern  musicians and bands. He is a very popular performer at many clubs and theatres. We’ve admired his extreme musicality at gigs at Parr Jazz Liverpool, Davenham Jazz and The Cinnamon Club and we are delighted to be able to welcome him for his first SMJ appearance.
